2019 World of Fine Wine Awards


Among the 1,000 + Worlds’ best wine lists to be assessed by World of Fine Wine, Constance Hotels & Resorts’ wine lists have once again been awarded!
A prestigious and motivating recognition, which reinforces the positioning of Constance Hotels, Resorts & Golf, as the front-runner of sommellerie in the Indian Ocean.

The World’s Best Wine Lists Awards is the most prestigious and rigorous wine list awards program, judging over 1,000 restaurants’ lists worldwide. Each year the awards highlight prominent wine lists in global establishments.
A panel of judges was assembled to assess each list to guarantee the credibility and integrity of the competition. Each submitted list goes through an intensive judging process by World of Fine Wine.

Now in its sixth year, the World’s Best Wine Lists Awards’ prestigious judging panel – chaired by Neil Beckett, Editor of The World of Fine Wine magazine – featured: award-winning wine writer, Andrew Jefford; award-winning sommelier, Andreas Larsson; wine writers Ch’ng Poh Tiong, Elin McCoy, Francis Percival and Alder Yarrow; sommelier, Luciana Girotto; and wine writer and lecturer Anne Krebiehl MW.
They assessed over 1,000 of the world’s best wine lists to determine the shortlists and winners.

About the Stars:

⭐️⭐️ Two-Star Award: A very good wine list in relation to the general criteria, and in addition normally demonstrates: superior breadth and/or depth in the selection; a high proportion of leading producers; a good mix of vintages in terms of age, maturity, quality, and style; a good range of wine styles and prices; a good by-the-glass program; a good selection of half-bottles and larger formats; superior organization and presentation.

⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ Three-Star Award:  A great wine list in relation to the general criteria, and in addition normally with: exceptional breadth and/or depth in the selection; a very high proportion of leading producers, large and small, old and new, established and emerging; a very good mix of vintages in terms of age, maturity, quality, and style; a wide range of wine styles and prices; an extensive by-the-glass program; an extensive selection of half-bottles and larger formats; outstanding organization and presentation; clear evidence of originality and personality; clear evidence of commitment over the long term, genuine passion, and real vision.

Jury Prizes: At the nomination of individual senior judges, but subject to the approval of the jury as a whole, these prizes recognize wine lists that show distinctive character and flair, offer exceptionally good value, or were particularly strong in a specific wine style. In 2018 just over 100 Jury Prizes were awarded, making this added badge a truly exclusive appraisal from the judging panel.

 

Since the inception of the Best Wine List Award in 2014, the awards have gone from strength to strength, and are “rapidly becoming as coveted as Michelin Stars.
