An ambrosial celebration of creativity and passion, the 14th edition of Festival Culinaire Bernard Loiseau is here!
Since 2006, Constance Culinary festival-Festival Culinaire Bernard Loiseau is held in Mauritius in collaboration with Relais Bernard Loiseau and his Chef Patrick Bertron. This unique event has become a much anticipated happening on the international gastronomic calendar, attracting epicureans, media from around the world, and prestigious sponsors.
It is the only event in Mauritius where amazing creativity & flavours are unleashed through different competitions and Michelin Star dinners; involving locals and international culinary geniuses. It unveils true passion, shows the importance of sharing and highlights the charm of the Mauritian culture.
As such for the 14th edition, the Gateau Piment Competition has been introduced. The ‘Gateau piment’ is a much appreciated Mauritian snack which is very present in the Mauritian culture and available almost everywhere on the island. Here’s how the selection process took place:
Winner will be announced on the Saturday 23rd during the official prize-winning ceremony.
Moreover, the culinary festival started with a tribute to our multicultural heritage. Our international guests had the chance to get a taste of our local delights through an escapade to the local market followed by a Mauritian lunch at 'Le Chasée de Constance Belle Mare Plage’ on Sunday – What a day!
After the fun, the festival moved forward with the nerve-wracking sommelier competition at Constance Belle Mare Plage's Blue Penny Cellar. Participants and spectators lived an exciting vinous experience yesterday in the presence of Fabrice Rosset (CEO of Deutz Champagne, Jancis Robinson (Journalist and wine critic) Sylvie Augereau (journalist) and Jerome Faure (Constance Hotels, Resorts & Golf Corporate sommelier).
And what’s a culinary festival without delicious food? Japanese food lovers were in for a treat yesterday at Constance Prince Maurice, with the superb creation of Sushi master, Eric Ticana.
Two words: Simply delicious!
