Two Islands, Two Escapes
The Seychelles has a way of making every experience feel a little more extraordinary. Beyond its turquoise waters and beautiful beaches, the islands invite you to slow down, discover new flavours and connect with the natural world.
For food writer and content creator Georgia Eats, a recent stay at Constance Ephelia on Mahé and Constance Lemuria on Praslin offered the opportunity to explore two resorts with distinct personalities, united by a shared appreciation for exceptional hospitality, gastronomy and the beauty of their surroundings.
From discovering an extensive wine collection to meeting a giant Aldabra tortoise and exploring the remarkable Vallée de Mai, Georgia shares the moments that made her Seychelles escape so memorable.
One Leading hotel, one luxury resort, two distinct personalities
Although both properties share the same commitment to thoughtful hospitality, Georgia was struck by just how different they felt.
At Constance Ephelia, she discovered a lively, expansive resort where adventure and relaxation go hand in hand. Surrounded by lush tropical landscapes and beautiful beaches, there was always something to explore, whether hiking, swimming or enjoying the many water sports on offer.
What particularly stood out was the resort's welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. With so much to discover for guests of different ages, Georgia could easily imagine returning with her entire family, including her niece and nephew.
Constance Lemuria, by contrast, offered a more intimate and peaceful escape. Its sense of privacy, tranquillity and natural beauty made an immediate impression, inspiring Georgia to describe it as an ideal destination for a honeymoon or a particularly special occasion.
For her, the difference comes down to the kind of escape you are looking for: Constance Ephelia brings together adventure, variety and relaxation, while Constance Lemuria invites you to embrace tranquillity, romance and time to yourself.
Together, they offer two different ways to experience the Seychelles, each with its own distinctive character.
A world of flavours, guided by exceptional wines
As someone who writes about food and enjoys exploring gastronomy, Georgia arrived with high expectations of the Constance Wine & Dine experience. The quality of the cuisine was something she had already heard about, but it was the depth of the wine offering that truly surprised her.
Across both resorts, she discovered an extensive selection of wines, alongside a variety of restaurants, each with its own identity and culinary offering. The emphasis on food and wine felt particularly distinctive for a beach resort, where gastronomy was an integral part of the overall holiday experience rather than simply an accompaniment to it.
She was equally impressed by the sommeliers, whose knowledge and guidance helped bring the wine lists to life. With such an extensive selection to explore, their expertise made discovering new favourites all the more enjoyable.
Among the highlights was the Mullineux Old Vine White, which quickly became a favourite. Yet one pairing stood out above the rest: a delicate peach dessert accompanied by Mullineux Olerasay Chenin Blanc dessert wine.
The combination was so memorable that Georgia had to capture it in a photograph. It was a moment that reflected what she enjoyed most about the experience: the attention given to each detail and the pleasure of discovering flavours that work beautifully together.
And, naturally, no tropical escape would be complete without a classic piña colada. Georgia was delighted to find that the versions served at Constance were every bit as good as she had hoped.
When Swedish inspiration meets the flavours of the Seychelles
A further highlight of Georgia's stay was meeting renowned Swedish chef Sebastian Gibrand and discovering his culinary creations.
Having experienced the work of many talented chefs, she was particularly impressed by his ability to step into two unfamiliar kitchens, work alongside teams he had never met before and deliver dishes of remarkable quality.
His calm and considered approach left a lasting impression. So, too, did the way he brought together his Swedish culinary influences with seasonal ingredients and the exceptional seafood and produce of the Seychelles.
The result was a style of gastronomy that felt thoughtful and refined, yet entirely at home in its surroundings.
For Georgia, this adaptability was a real achievement. It demonstrated not only the chef's skill, but also the creativity that can emerge when different culinary traditions meet the ingredients and character of a destination.
Fresh seafood and a few unforgettable favourites
For someone who loves exploring food, the opportunity to discover the restaurants at Constance Ephelia and Constance Lemuria was a highlight in itself.
Georgia was struck by the freshness of the ingredients, the variety of the menus and the consistency of the cooking. As a cook and food writer accustomed to seeking out exceptional meals, she admitted that resort dining can sometimes leave her wanting more. Here, she found herself looking forward to every meal.
Each restaurant had its own personality, offering enough variety to make every evening feel different. That diversity was particularly appealing when travelling with family or friends, allowing everyone to find something they genuinely enjoyed.
One dish became a particular obsession: the tuna tartare at Takamaka, which Georgia returned to for lunch on several occasions during her stay. With fresh seafood high on her list of things to enjoy in the Seychelles, it quickly became a personal favourite.
From memorable dinner experiences to thoughtfully matched wines, the culinary offering struck a balance she appreciated: refined without losing its sense of enjoyment and ease.
A #MyConstanceMoment to remember
While the beaches and ocean views were undeniably memorable, Georgia's most unexpected highlight came from a rather different encounter.
Meeting the giant Aldabra tortoises left her with a lasting sense of wonder. Being able to feed and gently stroke a tortoise estimated to be around 120 years old was an extraordinary experience, made all the more remarkable by the animal's impressive size and surprisingly endearing nature.
Reflecting on the encounter, Georgia was fascinated by the thought of how much the tortoise might have witnessed over its lifetime. There was something humbling about coming so close to a creature that had lived for more than a century.
It was a simple yet profound reminder that some of the most memorable travel experiences come not from grand gestures, but from unexpected moments of connection with the natural world.
For Georgia, this was her #MyConstanceMoment: an encounter she had not anticipated, but one she would remember long after returning home.
Discovering the natural wonders of Praslin
Asked what she would recommend to anyone planning a visit to the Seychelles, Georgia's answer was immediate: the Vallée de Mai on Praslin.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this extraordinary natural reserve is home to the iconic coco de mer palm, a plant native to the Seychelles, as well as remarkable flora and wildlife.
Georgia particularly enjoyed exploring the reserve with a knowledgeable guide, who brought the landscape to life and helped her appreciate details she might otherwise have missed. The rare birds and remarkable plant life proved fascinating, even for someone who had never considered herself particularly interested in birdwatching.
And then there was the coco de mer itself. Unusual in shape and unmistakable in appearance, it is one of the Seychelles' most distinctive natural treasures. Seeing it growing in its native environment made the experience all the more special.
For Georgia, the visit was a reminder of how much there is to discover beyond the beaches. The Seychelles is a destination of extraordinary biodiversity, where every excursion can offer a new perspective on the islands and their natural heritage.
An invitation to experience the Seychelles differently
Georgia's journey through Constance Ephelia and Constance Lemuria revealed two complementary ways to enjoy the Seychelles. One offers an abundance of activities and opportunities to explore, while the other invites guests to slow down and savour a more intimate escape.
Across both stays, gastronomy, thoughtful wine experiences and encounters with the natural world became part of a much bigger story: one shaped by discovery, genuine enjoyment and moments that stay with you.
Whether you are planning a family holiday filled with adventure, a romantic getaway or a journey inspired by food, wine and nature, Constance Ephelia and Constance Lemuria offer two distinctive invitations to discover the Seychelles, each in its own way.
Sometimes, the most memorable journeys are not simply about the places you visit, but the flavours you discover, the people you meet and the moments you carry home.
