Trio tied at top in thrilling MCB Ladies Classic
Smilla Tarning Soenderby, Celina Sattelkau and Casandra Alexander share the three-way lead going into the final round of a compelling inaugural MCB Ladies Classic after a day of tough scoring in the second round at Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius.
Tarning Soenderby added a 69 to her opening 66, making six birdies on a magnificent front nine that comprised every fairway found and every green hit in regulation in a wonderful 30 strokes.
The Danish player was less consistent coming home though, missing three fairways and four greens as she made two more birdies but also two bogeys and a double bogey to sign for a 39 for a 69 total.
That gave the chasing pack hope, and Sattelkau, from Germany, fired a bogey-free 67 to follow her opening 68 while South Africa’s Alexander did likewise – although her round was a little more eventful.
Alexander made seven birdies but also double-bogeyed the par-5 13th before bouncing back by picking up shots at the 16th and 18th.
She might well be the one to watch in Sunday’s final round, because Alexander – who is second on the Ladies European Tour order of merit - has enjoyed a wonderful 2026 season to date.
The 26-year-old began with a tied second in the PIF Saudi Ladies International and also has runners-up finishes in the Joburg Ladies Open two weeks ago as well as the Australian WPGA Championship.
She also has two other top 10s to her name in 2026 and has only been outside the top 10 in two events all season.
