History in the making at Constance Belle Mare Plage

Constance Belle Mare Plage will be the stage for more history to be made when some of the world’s finest women golfers play on the resort’s Legend course at the start of May.

The island of Mauritius will host an event on the Ladies European Tour (LET) golf circuit for the first time from May 1-3, the MCB Ladies Classic – Mauritius.

The ground-breaking tournament has a prize fund of €400,000 as well as Official World Golf Ranking points, LET Order of Merit points and Solheim Cup qualification points.

While it its the first time the LET has come to Mauritius, it is far from the first time Constance Belle Mare Plage has hosted a high-profile professional golf tournament.

The award-winning course has hosted 14 editions of the MCB Tour Championship on the Legends Tour, with icons of the game such as Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley and Tom Lehman competing on its fairways and greens.

The Legend course – the first of the two courses to be built at Constance Belle Mare Plage, which is set along one of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius – was designed by former Tour player Hugh Baiocchi in 1994.

It has been impressively renovated in the past four years and received widespread praise from the players who competed in the 2025 Legends Tour event, which was won by Greg Owen.

The Legends course is laid out in a former hunting reserve and is lined with water hazards, with the iconic 17th – a short hole over a coastal inlet – one of the most dramatic holes in professional golf.

A field of 120 will take on that spectacular par 3 and the rest of the immaculately-presented course when they compete for the inaugural MCB Ladies Classic – Mauritius title over 54 holes of strokeplay.

And you can be part of the competition. Predict who wins the MCB Ladies Classic – Mauritius correctly and you could win a three-night escape for two people on a half-board basis at Constance Belle Mare Plage. If multiple correct entries are received, a random draw will be applied and the winner will be announced on 5 May 2026 via Constance Hotels & Resorts digital channels. The link to enter is below.

The LET is in its 48th year and, alongside the US-based LPGA Tour, is the leading professional golf circuit for women golfers. It has produced legends of the game such as Laura Davies and Annika Sorenstam.

This year, the LET schedule comprises 30 events across 21 countries and five continents, with prize money of more than €40million

The tour’s diverse and multicultural membership of 378 professional golfers represents as many as 47 nationalities, who compete across the globe on some of the world’s most prestigious golf courses – with Mauritius poised to be the latest destination.

Jean-Jacques Vallet, CEO of Constance Hospitality, commented: “We are honoured to host an international tournament like the MCB Ladies Classic – Mauritius. This world-class event represents a major opportunity to shine a global spotlight on the natural beauty and appeal of Mauritius as a premier golf destination.”

Jean Michel Ng Tseung, CEO of MCB Group, said: “This is a significant milestone as we endeavour to continuously promote the exposure of Mauritius as a world-class golf destination on the international scene.”
