FAQs – Holidays to Mauritius

The best time to travel to Mauritius is between May and December, when the weather is dry, moderate and sunny. In general, there is never a bad time to visit the island, but you should know that from January to March it’s cyclone season.

Constance Belle Mare Plage and Constance Prince Maurice are both set on a private parcel of the vibrant East Coast of Mauritius, which is home to some of the island’s best beaches.

Like many Indian Ocean destinations, Mauritius is perfect for scuba diving, snorkelling, and other kinds of water sports. From our Mauritius resorts you can also do various tours to discover the rich natural and cultural beauty of the island. Visit the 100 metres high Chamarel Waterfall, the stunning National Botanical Garden or discover the colonial architecture of the Chateau de Labourdonnais.

We recommend diving in Mauritius from October to December and March to April if you want to avoid cyclone season. But Mauritius is a year-round destination, and the weather is not likely to affect your dive trip.

Mauritius is a great destination for a family vacation with lots of fun activities for all family members. Both our Mauritius resorts host a kids club that offer supervised entertainment for kids aged between 4-11 years old.

Mauritius tourist visa is not required for citizens of the UK and Canada for a stay up to 90 days and for US citizens up to 60 days. A valid passport is mandatory for all travellers.

Chinese New Year is celebrated in late January or early February at the beginning of the Chinese lunar calendar. Typical events on the island include fireworks and parades with lion and dragon dances. The main events take place in China Town, Port Louis.

Maha Shivaratree - During late February or early March, Hindus from all over Mauritius dress in white and walk to collect holy water from the volcanic Grand Bassin Lake.

Holi Festival - This colorful Hindu festival takes place in February in Mauritius, celebrating a good harvest with parades, music, dancing, and by throwing coloured powder and water on each other for luck.

Diwali - The annual festival of lights, Diwali, is celebrated by the large Hindu population of Mauritius to mark the triumph of good over evil. It takes place in late October or early November and is characterized by the lighting of candles, electric bulbs, and earthen lamps.

There are several languages spoken throughout Mauritius with the main ones being English, Creole, and French.
