Adrian Rorvik, a travel writer who gets to experience many varied destinations and delights in the name of work,
was at Constance Tsarabanjina Madagascar recently. Here’s what he did and what he thinks of this beautiful hotel and island.
When /how did you learn about Constance Hotels & Resorts?
Indaba in Durban, 2014/15, introduced by Sue Howell (from our South African Representative Office)
What were your feelings when you were travelling to Constance Tsarabanjina?
“Kansas has gone bye-bye”.
Excitement. Huge disappointment when I figured out I was there for four, not five, nights.
Once you reached the hotel, what was your overall impression of Constance Tsarabanjina Madagascar?
I had a looked on the website so had a fair idea of what to expect.
It was a little larger than expected but everything I’d hoped for. It sounds trite but, well, sub-tropical island paradise
Is there anything in particular that caught your attention at Constance Tsarabanjina Madagascar?
Like anywhere in Madagascar, heat and humidity.
Lots caught my attention - generally excellent maintenance and attention to detail (under Henri’s watchful eye), yet relaxed. Service of a high standard. Generally, very friendly and self-assured staff. Henri himself – an exceptional host.
What do you think about the quality of food and drinks at the hotel considering it’s an All-inclusive concept?
Very good. I would have liked stronger authentic Madagascan influences in the food.
Considering that you are in the middle of the ocean on an isolated island. What can you do there?
Relax is the most important thing. No phone, limited internet- and nowhere to rush off to. Perfect!
SCUBA is the main water activity and was great. Snorkelling is really good- no need to go out on a boat.
Simply head off from the shore. Walk a lot. Laze about. Eat, drink and be merry. Hit repeat.
Anything you want to say on the wildlife at Tsarabanijna?
I particularly enjoyed the birdlife, some of which is not to be found elsewhere. The marine life too of course.
List 5 must-bring items when you are travelling to Constance Tsarabanjina.
1-a good attitude; 2- the willingness to engage another culture/ way of life; 3- sunscreen; 4- hat/cap; 5- cozzies (plural!)
Have you been to any other hotels of the group?
Yes- Constance Ephelia, Constance Lemuria, Constance Prince Maurice, Constance Belle Mare Plage.
What has been your #ConstanceMoment at Constance Tsarabanjina Madagascar?
(A Constance Moment is an experience or a moment lived at any Constance Hotels that has marked you and could not have been lived anywhere else)
I have never relaxed so quickly, anywhere, in all my travels. And, I left physically healthier (well, I peeled a lot later on from sunburn).
Oh- swimming around the entire island was pretty special for me.
