Carnival groups from as far a field as Brazil, Italy, Swaziland, Cambodia and South Korea have arrived in Mahé in preparation for today’s Seychelles Carnival.
Now in its fifth year, the three-day event will see the capital Victoria transformed into a colourful fiesta with a procession of floats from 20 visiting countries, including the Brazilian Momo King Group, and 32 local floats.
Celebrating different nations and cultures coming together, the event has become known as the ‘Carnival of Carnivals’.
Visitors to Victoria over the next three days will be able to soak up the party atmosphere with live music, dancing, a range of delicious street food and cultural activities available along the carnival route.
