    Overlooking a particularly beautiful section of the beach, with unbroken views across the ocean, this is a romantic, relaxing place where you can enjoy some beautifully prepared but unfussy dishes.     Tapas, mezze and antipasti as well as thin-based pizzas, whole fish and other dishes, cooked in the oven or cast-iron dishes. There is also a wide selection of pasta.     As you head off to Le Barachois along a gangplank that winds through mangrove trees, you know you're in for a treat.

    This small, romantic restaurant is created from 5 pontoons floating on the lagoon. Lanterns are strung along the walkway, casting a twinkly reflection into the water.

    The sound of the water gently lapping, and the occasional fish jumping out of the water adds to the charm. And to top it all, the food here is delicious. You can sample an eclectic mix of seafood and grills, all created around one particular herb or spice.

    Only open in the evenings, eating at Le Barachois is a must-do when staying at Le Prince Maurice.

The talented chef, Claude Rehivelo, is an expert in his use of Madagascar’s fresh produce: fresh fish, lobster, shellfish and zebu (local cattle) go well with the tasty organic vegetables and wonderful local fruit from the Nosy Bé kitchen garden.

    The bar has a warm and friendly feel to it and from time to time you can see dolphins swimming past out at sea.
